New Europa Series of €5 Banknote Unveiled
The European Central Bank (ECB) and the national central banks (NCBs) of the Eurosystem are to launch a second series of euro banknotes in the coming years gradually, starting with the €5 banknote in May 2013. The new series is called the “Europa”. With enhanced security features, the new euro banknotes are built with higher protection level against counterfeiting.
According to the European Central Bank (ECB), the Europa series €5 banknote has already unveiled on 10th January 2013. ICT (International Currency Technologies) has fully prepared for the new €5 banknote and has already accomplished the banknote software development. Furthermore, one of ICT group members, ICT Europe, has already done the testing with ECB in February. The entire product line of ICT Bill Acceptors in European market are all ready for the new €5 banknote, as well as the software upgrade programs are completed for the existing installed based. ICT ensures the software upgrade programs will be released to the existing customers before the new €5 banknote is officially launched in May 2013.
